Hormone Helps Fight Skin InfectionsAntimicrobial peptides (AMPs) are molecules produced in the skin to fend off infection-causing microbes. It looks similar to spider bit. The infected area can be swollen, red, sore and pussy. At the beginning, MRSA can just look like a red lump but after a while it started looking like it is eating away your skin. Not really a pretty view. Here is an image of it so you can kinda get an idea of what it looks like.

Super Moon? How About a Super Sun!

“On May 5, 2012, while everyone else was waiting for the “Super Moon” astrophotographer Alan Friedman was out capturing this super image of a super Sun from his back yard in Buffalo, NY!

Taken with a specialized telescope that can image the Sun in hydrogen alpha light, Alan’s photo shows the intricate detail of our home star’s chromosphere — the layer just above its “surface”, or photosphere.

Prominences can be seen rising up from the Sun’s limb in several places, and long filaments — magnetically-suspended lines of plasma — arch across its face. The “fuzzy” texture is caused by smaller features called spicules and fibrils, which are short-lived spikes of magnetic fields that rapidly rise up from the surface of the Sun.

On the left side it appears that a prominence may have had just detached from the Sun’s limb, as there’s a faint cloud of material suspended there.”

If an individual is already carrying the MRSA bacterium, the person may be attacked when there is a cut or lesion in the skin. Nevertheless, the spread of this infection is primarily related to the immediate surroundings.

The spread of MRSA primarily occurs in hospitals where most people already have a weakened immune system. Medical products like intravenous tubing or catheter can behave as paths for MRSA to enter the body. MRSA carriers may also spread the infection in long-term medical care facilities, even if they are not infected themselves. In such conditions, the infection is referred to as (Hospital Associated) HA-MRSA.

The other main reason for spread of MRSA is through direct skin experience of the infected person. This can occur due to:

  • Residing in unsanitary and/or crowded conditions like in day care facilities, prisons and training camps
  • While participating in various kinds of contact sports
  • Unprotected sexual activity

In these situations the illness is called (Community Associated) CA-MRSA
